My Reaction and Thoughts on The 13th Episode of Supergirl of Season 1 after watching it for the first time.

Supergirl has been through a lot in the last few episodes. First she has to battle a doppleganger and now some octopus eerie looking thing has disabled Supergirl and put her in a alternative reality situation. This tentacle if removed could kill her so all of Supergirl’s friends are trying to figure out how to save her.

While they are coming up with a plan, Supergirl is trapped in this alternative reality where she see’s what life was like on her home planet before she came to earth.

As an audience, we know that this isn’t her real reality but Kara is convinced in this dream like state that this is her reality as she is around her real family.

How would you feel if you where having a nice pleasant dream that everyone that you lost from your life was suddenly in this dream. You wouldn’t want to wake up and this is Kara’s situation because Kara’s earth sister is able to reach her via her subconscious mind and try and convince her that she is needed on Earth and her time on Earth is her real home.

There was an episode of Smallville, where Clark was in a dream like state and ended up in a mental hospital as he grappled with his reality and believed that he knows who he is. This episode of Supergirl is very similar. I think Supergirl took a lot of their storyline from Smallville and made it their own and related it to Supergirl, since the shows are very similar as to what Supergirl and Clark Kent would be going through because it’s recycling the same source material and trying to make it better.

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later, at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant. She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.
